Thanks for the list of verses that outline suffering in the New Testament, Jake. It is interesting to me that some believe that the Word of Faith is thought to teach no suffering.

What I think is that the Word of Faith is vilified and condemned, so that it becomes the scape goat for any rumor.

Thanks again.

HI Ken,
The Word of Faith teachers are more recognized for their teachings of living victorious in Christ, but that doesn't mean that they don't teach on repentance, forgiveness, putting away the old man, crucifying the flesh. Truly, we can not live victorious until the old is left in the dirt. But once we have chosen the Gift we have been transformed. And our training should not be solely nor mostly on what not to do and what you used to be and how not to be that again.

As we train our children to be adults we dont harp on what they have screwed up, nor do we teach on how to live a crucified life, we teach them to live in love, and obedience. When they do that they will be living a crucified life. In the same way when we are in Christ, we must live a crucified life but it isn't through that way that we eventually walk circumspect. It is through His love and His teaching of faith, joy, and obedience that brings us to the point we walk in the spirit. Paul said it this way. "Walk in the Spirit and you will not walk in the flesh."

We can try all our lives to crucify the flesh but if we don't start walking in the Spirit....we will still be "trying to walk crucified" when He returns.

Acts 9:16 For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.”

Romans 5:3 More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,

Romans 5:15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
Romans 8: 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

2 Corinthians 1:5-7 For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.

Philippians 1:21 For me to live is Christ but to die is gain.

Philippians 1:29 For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake.

Philippians 4: 11-13 for I have learned in whatever situation I am in to be content, I know how to brought low, and I know how to abound, In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him that strengthens me

Philippians 3: 7-11 But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

Colossians 1:24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what was lacking in Christ afflictions for the sake of the body, that is the church.

2 Thessalonians 1: 5 This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering—

2 Timothy 1:8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,
2 Timothy 2:3 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus

2 Timothy 4:5 As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry

1 Peter 2:21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.

1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 1 Peter 4:13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.

Revelation 2:10Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Ken,
I was looking over the comments on the Blog and I saw your latest comment made in January, 2009. :) I guess I am slow in responding .

Once again, this site speaks not about teachers of Word of Faith but what the Word of Faith is. To talk about people would be a mess. Some say one thing and other say another. Within the denominations of the church we see differences and within the same denominations we see differences and within the conventions of the same denominations we see and hear others.

This is a distraction from what Jesus called us to do which was Love one another.

Your website is about pointing out something a teacher said not the Word of Faith.

My comment is the word of faith teachers teach living the resurected life and this is good. But they do not teach living the crucified life. If one lives the crucified life then they can live the resurected life. If one seeks the resurected life with out living the crucified life then there is no God power for this life. There is power but this power is from another spirit. Because of this the Word of faith movement is another Gospel. One can read scriptural basis on my site.
Thanks

Hi Ken,
I wouldn't consider that a comment, but more of a plug for your site.

In any case, this site is to talk about the Word of Faith and how it is the Word that is preached in the Bible. This site is not about preachers, teachers or other men/women. Jesus never taught about "this person or that person". He taught the Word.

If you would like to make a specific comment I would be happy to respond.

Hi Hannah,
All comments are welcome and encouraged. As for commenting on Dan's comments I thought I had answered or commented on them. If I left something out please show me and I will be more than happy to address it.

Please know that I don't desire to create controversy nor to alienate anyone. The purpose of this blog is to present a (hopefully) unbiased or at least non emotionally charged representation of the Word of Faith.

And I agree with you. Those three days are a wondrous mystery. I know He died physically and spiritually for us all so that we could be reborn physically and spiritually. He took captivity captive, He destroyed Satan in Hell, He went to Abraham's Bosom and took all those souls out of there, and stood reborn and alive on the third day. How He did it and in what order are not written down in the Word. And as you wrote...this "is where Faith comes in."
